Static vs dynamic QR codes: what changes after printing?
What static means
A static code contains the final information entered into the generator: a website address, text, contact details or Wi-Fi instructions. A scanner reads that information directly from the pattern. For a website code it then opens that destination.
Jarvis creates static codes. A downloaded code has no generator-imposed trial expiry or scan quota. Its linked website still needs to remain available. Changed contact or Wi-Fi details require a newly generated pattern.
What a dynamic service adds
A typical dynamic code contains a URL on a redirect service. The service looks up the current destination, may record scan statistics, and sends the visitor onward. Changing the stored destination changes where that same printed pattern leads.
This can be useful for campaigns that frequently change their landing page. It also adds an ongoing dependency on the redirect domain, records and service. Review a provider’s current plan and maintenance terms before printing permanent material.
Update a page you control
Imagine a restaurant prints a static code linking to https://example.com/menu. The restaurant can update the menu at that address without changing the printed code. The page has changed, but the QR payload has not.
A stable URL on your own domain is often a practical choice for menus, contact pages and event details. If the address must change, maintain a redirect on that website or print a replacement code. Avoid depending on a temporary page you cannot manage.
Choose for the actual job
Static codes suit direct contact cards, guest Wi-Fi and stable website destinations. Editable destinations and per-code campaign reports need a hosted service with continued availability.
Jarvis focuses on free static designs, saved styling and print sheets. Its private analytics describe use of the generator. They cannot tell you how often a downloaded static code is scanned later: those scans do not contact Jarvis.
